Thanks , I did that a long time ago (my first mod) . I hated the "ET" look.
Love the way yours turned out, they do looked better without the brakelight all together.

Went to VIR this weekend to watch the races...I always like parking by the newer 911s to get a sense of the evolution.

Hawk,
I love the smoked (front and back) lights on a slate grey car.
I got the idea from Gus' red vinyl kit. The posted results look very nice and it’s a simple technique that hides faded pink or cracked lights. I started researching different vinyl kits and various tint colors and styles… that’s when it hit me, maybe smoked lights would look good on a slate grey car?
I love the classic silhouette of our cars, the simple flowing, uncluttered lines are timeless. In experimenting with this vinyl covering, I’m hoping the smoked-out lights blend into the bumper design for an overall smooth flowing, harmonious shape?
It also gives the car a hint of R Gruppe style (for which I believe 964s are a perfect foundation for…). The nice things is that I can just peel it off if I don’t like it!
I purchased the light smoke film, hoping to reduce light transmission by just a little bit (92% light transmission). Looking at the lights straight on (and even to the side), there doesn't seem to be any large lumen reduction? I can see the orange of the turn single through the vinyl, actually the vinyl highlights the checker pattern of the reflectors, gives it a dark orange carbon fiber look...
(original thread: Lights out - smoked vinyl covered corners and tails)
Taken at Classic LeMans...all blacked on a black would look pretty "frecking" menacing! (Hawk, I know you have a black car, so this picture is for you)
