Weight of OEM Cups and Price in USA
All,
Two questions, what are the weights of the standard OEM 17" Carrera Cup 1 wheels (prefer 7" and 9") and how much do they cost in the USA? Are there any dealers that discount?
I really want OEM Cups and would prefer new wheels, however in the UK I am quoted around £2,500 for a set of 4!!!!!! from both the franchised dealers and specialists.
I have had Mille Miglia copies on a previous car and they were OK but I am told that they are heavier than the OEM wheels,
Thanks,

If you do a search on the 993 board, you'll find a number of posts with wheel weights for Cup IIs. The Cup IIs are 19.07 and 22.26 lbs. Various threads on the 993 board also gave weights with different tires mounted. Mine are 39.5 and 45 lbs with MPSC tires (205/255).
In the USA, used wheels can be found for as little as $400 for a set of blemished wheels (still great for the track) or we can get refurbished wheels from Wheel Enhancement (less than $1000, I think). I would never consider buying new ones as I don't think it's worth the money.

I would try porscheshop : http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalo...sche_cars.html
I got a set of Cup 3's (as they call them) for aroiund £550 a couple of years back. The ones they sold me were definitely OEM wheels with the correct markings etc, just make sure you ask them to confirm! £2500 must surely be for the magnesium wheels as fitted on the RS...?

For the record, Kevin, once you are familiar with Cup 1s, you can spot replicas a mile off.
I was chatting to a very well known and respected Porsche wheel supplier at an event a few years ago and mentioned this to him. He shook his head and said it wasn't true until I pointed out the difference with 'his' replicas. 'Well I never!', he said, or similar words to that effect!

Guys,
Thanks for the advice, Jasmine Porschalink are offering refurb OEM cups at around £900 per set, only have 7s and 8s in at present though, I really want 7s and 9s.
The price of £2500 is definitely for the normal cups, the RS mags are £1000+ for a single front wheel and the rears are no longer available!
John, on my wanderings through antiquity (the search engine) I came across a comment doubting the provenance of your wheels based on their size-I checked in Tobias Aichele's excellent book and your wheels do inideed seem to be from a 92 Cup car, not sure if they are Al or Mg though.
Back on the phone today, I still think my Milles looked OK on the red 964 though...
...although not as nice as yours John

Oh, yes - don't get me wrong, Kevin - they did look fine, great in fact. It's just that you can easily spot that they aren't the real McCoy...
