Hi Tom,
Yes I was after the dimentions of the 'Pull',,,,,,,,,,,,and, measurements of the handle you use to pull the door closed. i.e distance between the two bolt holes used to fix it to the door, and dementions of the handle, it's height and width. I'm guessing they will be close to 1 1/4 inches high and 3/8 " thick.

Thanks for answering. If you ever need anything from OZ, give me a call.

Sorry about the blooming but the only rulers I could find were metal and my spotlights are busying helping some paint dry so I had to use the flash. You should be able to make out the indentations on the side of the ruler. If not let me know and I will take some better photos tomorrow.

Hi Jason,
Thanks for the pics, however I haven't seen them yet as I can't get them to open. I just get the red X.
could you email them to me?

Cheers

I have a spare door strap that I replaced on my car and it measures about 10 3/4" long and 15/16" wide. There are two grommets on each end of the strap with the hole centers about 7/16" from the ends.

G'day Oddjob,

That is great information!!!
I take it that the strap is folded in half and the grommetts are attached via some kind of pin?
How much do you pay for them from Porsche over there?

Thanks
Frank

Correct. It folds over and has a pin with a clip that attaches it to the latch release mechanism. You have to take the whole door panel off to access it. I think it was around $30 or a little less from a dealer after the discount (some dealers here will offer 20-30% off list price). Rather expensive, but the original on my car was really dirty and needed to be replaced. I also priced out the door handles (the ones used to pull the door closed). They were in the $250 range. And all they are is a piece of plastic with a leather wrap on them....

Wow!! I thought they might be cheaper in the US. Over here the door handle is $144 AU, that's about$105 US. However the bloke from the dealer didn't mention anything about leather. Do they make vinyl (leatherette) covered ones?? Would you be interested in sending your spare webbing strap over here for me to copy? Nothing like seeing the real thing when you're making one. I'll send it back!
I am thinking about making my handles. You can't tell me the size of them? I was going to press them from Alluminium flat, say 1" x 1/4" then cover them with vinyl, leather, or webbing in blue.

What do you think?

The door pulls that you use to close the door are thin strips of metal that have been over-molded with a very soft plastic. I don't think they are leather. Everything that was leather in my interior was eaten during the great mouse infestation of winter '98.

Hi Jason,
I've opened this forum about ten times in the last 24hrs, both at home and at work and this time those photos that you posted came through!!
They are just great. I should be able to make something up now.

Thanks again,

Frank
