More Power in 964 (anybody tried this?)
I've looked through the archives, but can't find this combination. Has anyone tried TWM throttle bodies, a programmable ECU, a fairly hot cam and headers on a 964? In Bruce Anderson's book, he says Jerry Woods got 320hp out of a 964 with a fairly similar setup of carbs, cams and headers.
Thank you.

Thre 3.6L engine can be worked, as most engines can, to extract more HP, the question is whether it has to remain emissions legal. We can look to what Porsche has done with it's racing engines to see what's possible, too.

300 HP
This is what I have done :
ECU
Airmeter
Throttle body
Cup pipe
Cat delete pipe
It is the maximum on standard injectors
The complete upgrade has cost me no more than €2000 ! but what a difference
I think that to get an extra 20 Hp it will cost at least an extra €5000 so not worth to me

We have built practically the exact engine that you are debating, namely a 964RS engine with:
Ported cases
Lightened & shot peened rods with comp bolts
Standard pistons & barrels
9m ported heads
sport cams
titanium retainers & comp springs
9m individual throttle bodies
Equal length headers, no cats
Motec M48 pro management
Larger injectors
The result was an impressive 325bhp at the tyre, or around 360bhp at the flywheel. The engine wanted to rev well past 7000 but limitations of using the standard rod prevented more high rpm use than just testing. This engine in the 964RS dropped its 0-140 time from 25 seconds to 18.6, in other words just 0.5 sec behind a 993GT2 in comparison to a 996GT3 at 23 sec.
