I've now talked to a locksmith who says he can cut my keys for me, so that's encouraging. I don't have the bonnet lock in my car either. Maybe it only made it into the later cars (92-94?).

I don't have a lock on the hood (bonnet) release lever. Should I feel slighted?

I went to a locksmith to get a couple of extras made. He went to the back stock to find the correct blank but then cut it on the usual machine & charged me $1.50 for the pair.

Craig has a targa which has the lock for the bonnet installed on the release lever

Joe, don't feel slighted - I have not used it, nor do I think I ever will!!

Jim,

The bonnet/hood lock is on the bonnet/hood release lever in my cab (1990).

As far as getting the key made goes, I had the local Porsche dealer do mine, and they did it for free. Now that's a bargain!

I found it tonite. Never noticed it was there. I really dont think that flimsy piece of plastic would do much good if someone wanted to get in the trunk!

I was told that it was because the blanks I was trying to get cut were steel, they typically use brass and that the steel blanks were tough on the machine.
