Default Turbo "look" 964 Targas

Looking at Adrians book it looks like the (964) T/L's only were 92, 93, 94?
Is there a "chance" that I will find a T/L targa?

If you do find one it is an aftermarket conversion.

Question Turbo look.

Let me get this straight.
If I want a "wide" body targa 964 it's 92, 93 or 94 only?
Otherwise its 84 to 89 carrera?

I'm not sure you did get it right. If I'm reading this right, both Adrian and his book indicate that there were NO Targas built with the wide body. Therefore the only likelihood is that you might find a Targa which has had the turbo wheel arches fitted albeit probably without the accompanying suspension.

Regards

There is no Turbolook or Widebody Targa version of the 964. Cabs (MY 1992) and coupes (MY 1993, MY 1994) only,

OK, thanks, now I,ve got it straight....(I think, I need to look for a Cab if I want the wide look. I really don't want a coupe for south Florida
Or, find a Targa that need some body and paint work and have the flares done as part of that.
I was at a body shop watching a 911 get some repairs and the body guy assured me that the way to fix it was without welding, he was using some kind of "glue" to attach the new pieces that way no welding to damage the temper and rust resistance of the metal. Looked great when he finished, and I am VERY FUSSY.
I just like the way the wide look
After a minor fender bender on my 79 coupe the body shop had some turbo front fenders left over from another car and convinced me to make the car into a T/L it came out GREAT turbo slots and all.
I will post a pic, (if I can figure out how to scan and post it)

You will actually need to look for an America(n) Roadster. Only 250 were imported and they were the only widebody cab model sold in the 964 range in the USA.
A normal 964 cab, C2 or C4 in widebody form is also an aftermarket conversion.
Beware there are also some fake Roadsters out there as well.
Florida is somewhat a haven for these aftermarket conversions marketed as genuine. The was a guy selling a 964 Turbo cab (white one) down there saying it was 1 of 105 made by the factory. Beware also of widebody Speedsters and conversions from other series.

That is a beautiful car!! So what suspension mods do you have to do to install an aftermarket wide body kit?

Adrian....can you give the official answer. I know from talking with Strosek...the suspension mods are a 15K upgrade to what Porsche puts on the Turbo. This car is unbelievable...sound of a Ferrari with handling to go with the look...0 lean in the corners.

Dear Targatime,
The costs would vary on what the customer wants. You can have a proper conversion to full Turbolook configuration which would be very expensive on a C2, somewhat cheaper on a C4 or you can have the Turbolook lookalike which is just adding the rear flares and using wheel spacers to move the wheels out.
I have never had any dealings with Strosek so I do not know what they offer. A full and proper conversion of a C2 would certainly cost around 15K because you have to install the hydraulic boosted brake system. In fact thinking about it it may cost more if you use genuine Porsche parts for the conversion and change the wheels and tyres.
However it is not something I have not looked into greatly apart from the RCT Evo conversions by RUF.

Adrian

Default Widebody Targa 72/92 conversion

My old 72T targa just arriving from the paint shop. The most rewarding part of the project is left - putting it together.
All parts sprayed separately in BasaltBlack. I do like silver coupes but a targa looks more integrated in black - my opinion.
Bare metal rebuild with original part - no glassfiber. No wing will be used.
