Default Fuel filter change procedure?

I posted earlier this week re a fuel leak in the engine compartment and have now located the leak. It appears there is a seeping hole directly in the filter body.
So whats the drill for changing it, anything to note, or beware of?
Will it spill much?
Thanks in advance

It's pretty easy: place a cloth or papers under the filter, loosen connections at both ends of the filter, loosen the clamp holding the filter in place, pull the filter out, note the orientation of how the fuel flows, ensure the new filter lines up that way, and install. I like to mark the filter with the installation month/year on the body, which makes future visual inspections/reminders easier.

Thanks Bill
I've now replaced the filter and on inspection of the old one I found it had corroded right through from the inside out and fuel was seeping out.
Cut it open to examine inside and there was a small patch of localised corrosion.
Quite puzzled by this - I don't know how long it had been on but I do think its running better now, more mid to upper range clout than before

Malc,

A filter who is corroded thru does not give a great feeling about the rest of the service habits of the previous owner...............
