Default Saw the 997 today in person

WOW, do I feel lucky today. I was at my local Porsche dealership today in Nashua, New Hampshire picking up something, and in the garage being hidden from the public was a brand new black 997! Knowing the salesman he let me go out and take a look at it up close. I have got to tell you that it is simply looks outstanding in person. I love the new front end of the car very much. It no longer looks like a Boxster, you can clearly tell the difference. Best wishes- Jay Gratton

Jay,

Looking forward to seeing one myself. It's just a shame that the "new Boxster" will have the same headlights as the 997!!

Andy the new boxsters headlights are different to the 997,they are half the old style half the 997 style.

...and I love the rear end of the 997 S. The four exhaust pipes give it a somewhat raw old school feeling

If most people saw that picture they would say it was a 911. The original boxster roadster concept was cool and it was targeted at the miata, MR2, Z3, buyers etc. It had a niche a purpose and a character all of its own...this I find a little annoying as its basically a poormans 911!

Just my opinion of course!!!

When I got home last night there was a letter from my local OPC waiting for me. It's an invitation to go and see the 997 in two weeks time before they release it to the general public. I'm never going to be able to afford one but it would be rude to refuse the invite.

Thanks to the 997 the 996 becomes a beautiful car.
Never seen such a weirdo design. They took the front of the old 993 and the *** of the 996.It simply doesn't work for me.
Mechanicaly the 997 is a step forward but the design is a step back.
I hope the 998 comes with a new and creative design.

Greetz,
Christophe

I think those super skinny profile tires and wheels look like something on the local lowrider ricers around here. My opinion I guess.

Are those the stock 19" rims and tires Porsche puts on the "S"?

I saw several 997s yesterday and I was not impressed. The proportions do not look right to my eyes. And I didn't care much for the exhuast sound either. I much prefered the 40th Anniversary 996 they had.
