Default Lowering springs?

Do the H&R springs for the 965 turbo fit on a regular 964 -90? Are they matching the bilstein sport dampers? And finally, was the stock turbo 5mm lower than the C2/C4? Thank´s for any reply!

Regards

Steffo

I have H&R springs with the part # 29834 on them. They are for the turbo but supposed to fit 964, but they are still in the box waiting for some slow poke to put them on.

I put 965 springs on my 964 and it did not make a huge difference in the ride height. However it did lower it alittle and seemed to stiffen up the suspension noticebly. The H&R springs will probably lower and stiffen the car more than the stock 965 springs. Oh I did not change the shocks at that time but I have done so sense. GOOD LUCK!

I have installed the H&R 965 springs on my 964. they lower the car approx 1 1/2" . You can use either the Bilstein struts or Koni's. The H&R turbo springs are supposed to have a higher spring rate than the H&R 964 springs.

I believe that the stock US turbo springs(M030) are the same height as the standard 964. The ROW turbo springs (M030) are slightly shorter.

Thank´s guys! I've heard that the H&R 965 springs make an improvement in handling compared to the H&R 964 springs.

Colin: How is the ride comfort in cruising speeds (60-80 mph)?

I find the H&R's are actually smoother than the stock springs. Remember that the stock springs are a linear rate and the H&R's are variable rate.

The H&R's smooth out the bumps better and once the springs compress in a turn, the car feels like it is on rails.

H&R 965 springs with bilstein HDs are a great match for street and some track use. But ever since I got bitten by the DE bug I felt I could use more spring rates, lots more. Gosh I sounded just like Jeff Curtis.

Does anyone know if the H&R 965 springs will fit at the rear on a -90 C2? The upper damper fittings where changed on the -91 and on C2/C4 and I suppose the 965 fittings are the same as the later C2/C4 model's.

I have the 965 springs installed on my 90 C2. It is the rear strut that is changed to accomadate the revised spring mount.

As colin stated - it is the struts you need to worry about, I just ordered mine and had to specify 89-90. The springs remain the same

My spring part#'s are in fact: 29 598 VA and 29 598 HA. These actually are for the 993 TT. Spring rates should be a good match (thanks to Peter C who looked them up) 230-265 (Front) and 280-320 (Rear). I just pray they will fit on the Bilstein struts (arriving tomorrow). <crosses fingers and starts praying>

Hey Guys

Since many of you have lowered I'm wondering have you had any issues with speed bumps or anything else that may cause the car to hit underneath. I like the fact that the ride comfort hasn't suffered.

Your replies are welcome

Default H&R 964 vs H&R 965

Yes, it makes a noticable difference. My OPC mistakenly put the H&R 964 springs on my car. I then tested the setup on the Nürburgring during a weekend while waiting for the H&R 965 springs to come in.

This is how I wrote up the experience at this page:

The 300km trip to the Ring told me that the Red springs are quite a bit firmer than the Greens. This is very noticeable when cornering: the car stays much flatter and turns in better. Naturally, squat and dive are less than with the Greens. Again there's no problem bottoming out when going through the compression at Fuchsröhre or when going round the Karussell. Even though the Red springs are quite firm, they don't rattle teeth unless you drive over a sharp ridge that's perpendicular to your direction. Road holding has improved a lot. The ride height is the same as with the Greens.

Cheers,

JW
