I thought I had that award sewn up:
New brakes (calipers, rotors, pads and lines)
New suspension (JIC-Cross competition)
New axles in the rear
New ball joints and wheel bearings in the front
New master and slave for the clutch
Lots of other new rubber parts
New rear sway bar and drop links
New seats (Recaro Pole Positions)
Added fire supression system
Added Cargraphic aux. oil cooler
New rear lid and RSA tail (MA Shaw)
RS pulley upgrade
New motor mounts (RS version)
New MPSCs
New (slightly used) steering wheel
A carbon fiber cup bypass pipe came and went
New trailer and hitch for the ML (does that count?)
New lipstick camera to record my mistakes
Oh, and a new battery

Other than that, I've done nothing to it The year may be half over but the car's budget is over-extended.

Holy moly. OK that is a heck of alot of work - but its a track car, right. Maybe we ought to have two categories - one for road and one for track?

I was thinking about typing a list until I saw Tom's - then it felt silly. However, regardless of the petty items replaced or bought to be replaced in the list, here are some of the things I can remember (not had the car 12 months yet):

New Clutch
Brakes pads/sensors
Replacement Bumperettes
Clear side lenses
Replaced all black center console inserts
Shift boot recovered (say less about this the better)
New hand brake and sensor
DME relay
Glove box ****/lock (whopping $116)
Silver bonnet badge
Rocker sill rubber replaced
Aero mirrors
Cup II wheels
H&R springs
Bilstein shocks
4 New S02A Tires (replaced the rear tires on the old 16" rims too)
Door handle gaskets/seals
Amber turn bulbs
Trunk and engine lid interior bulbs
Drilled Air box and replaced filter
Replaced Distributor caps and rotors
All window switches replaced
Steering wheel badge replaced
Front grill replaced
New left and right front undertray pieces
New rear undertray (not yet arrived)
Wiper arms
Wiper blades
Misc. filters, oil, transmission etc.
New rear view mirror
Replaced ruibber seals for rear light housings
Replaced Engine Shroud
New trunk carpet
Optima red top battery
Spare wheel hold down clamp
New front seat belts (still in box)
New door sensors and rubber boots
Replacement CCU (used but STILL $300)
New interior door handles
Replaced Sunroof seals front and back
1 Coffee cup holder (Rennlist group buy)
Replacement key handle (old one was scratched to hell)
Duel horns replaced
Seat handles and clips replaced
Replaced small interior door trim along sills. (end pieces were missing...go figure!)
New gas cap, oil cap & water reservoir cap
New porsche crest valve stems
Hub caps

As you can see, most of these are cosmetic rather than performance enhancing and much, much more is still needed. I have enjoyed every little piece however and am glad in many ways that I chose a car needing some work and attention.

Next year a complete interior refurb is in the plan, but before that I need some bodywork completing, new glass and minor electrical/AC work done.

Howard, get a life! Or go into the automotive manufacturing business. Move over RUF, I can see the Khadmus 964 Turbo Cab (also known as The Syndrome).

I think Howard definitely qualifies as "obsessive"! I've never heard of anyone replacing some of the things on that list (door handle gaskets???).

But - I have a translation question :

What are "hub caps" to you guys in the States? In the UK, they are the things you get on family cars with steel wheels - they are silver (plastic) circles (with a diameter the same as the wheel) and clip on the outside of the wheel to make it look like it's a nice silver alloy wheel.

I can't help thinking that if you bought Cup IIs and hub caps, you might be buying bits you really don't need!

Dave, these are all things that were worn, broken cracked or looked shabby and needed to be replaced...it does sound quite a list though and the car is still very much a work in progress.

The center caps for the wheels are commonly referred to as hub caps. I believe the definition is the same here Dave (I am from Cheshire incidentally). I have always understood the definition to be fairly broad/loose in terms of describing the cap that covers the wheel hub whatever the fashion at the time - not sure why this is important?!

Of course not important - just wondered what they were.

Never heard the centre caps called hub caps before - but I agree they are an essential item. Someone needs to make Christer buy some.
