That is the Idle microswitch at the end of the throttle linkage.

The idle and WOT microswitches. They come as a unit.

First thing to isolate. Is it doing it when the air condition is turned on?

Try to duplicate it with the air-con off, and see if it happens, or if it happens as severe/frequent.

Based on that I can type down suggestions.

As others have suggested it could be ISV related, is the idle stable?

When I bought my car it had a very lumpy idle and frequent cutting out, the car had too much oil and that was getting into the inlet and was contaminating the ISV. I sucked out some oil, maybe 200ml, cleaned the ISV (30 minutes) and the car has been great since.

I had incremental idle improvements from ...
- new or clean ISV
- Caltex Techron fuel treatment
- checking intake for leaks
- DME chip

The real solution ended up being ...
- System adaptation with Bosch Hammer

Sxton04 -where did you find a 964 airflow meter for $450? everything I have seen is over $1000.
