Beverly Hills Car Club is notorious for selling misrepresented vehicles, they have been around a long time. Many Porsche people would never buy a car from them so proceed with caution if you plan to proceed at all.

Thanks. I know I need a PPI but im trying to find out why the car was salvaged. There is currently no record or information on the salvaged title.

Did you call them to get the VIN and do a search on it?

I have. The Carfax report shows a salvaged title in 98 with no additional info or details and then a few different owners after that. Most recent owner in the early 2000s living in South Carolina, serviced by Baker Motor Company. I’ve called Baker and provide the VIN to them to see what kind of information they can give me.

Does it show where it got serviced or where it was located in 1998? If you don't see any evidence of major bodywork, my money would be on a flood car. South Carolina gets hit with hurricanes with some regularity so it's quite possible that's what happened.

Basically if you cannot get any better info about WHY it's salvaged, you have to go in with an offer (if you do at all) which assumes the worst case scenario. Ie - is a car that was flooded (or whatever you view as worst case) worth spending 60k on? For me personally, if you have a limited budget, I wouldn't want to deal with the potential of what could come from that and I would just wait.

I would ask Cobalt his opinion on the pictures…

But to my eye the frunk gaps are off and it doesn’t shut fully on the drivers side front corner, the rubber frunk seal is off, the paint looks very irregular where the front tire sits, and the underneath photo shows the plastic panel doesn’t match the floor of the frunk underneath. It looks like a front end collision possibly happened at some point to me.

Does anyone else think something looks off up front?

Regardless of the seller's horrible rep, what exactly do you expect the condition of a 1992 C2 priced @ $60K to be?

I 100% agree. Just trying to do whatever research I could before getting a ppi done. Appreciate everyone’s feedback

It looks like the front passenger side took a hard hit at some point based upon hood alignment and the frunk area paintwork. Driver door is also proud in the lower corner which is unusual. Driver seat was recovered as was the steering wheel which isn’t a bad thing if the right materials were used.

It looks like passenger side rear quarter might have been replaced as well. They attempted to align the drivers door but it clearly is still off and is rubbing the paint off when closed. Too much going on. I would move on and look for one without accident history. Whatever the damage was it was poorly repaired and at this price IMO it is worth more as parts than a whole car.

I agree. I took this advice and looked harder at the pictures and decided to hold out for one without accident history.

Thanks guys for your help

In addition to the salvage title, it does have, “an owner's manual, adding to its desirability and collectability”. They should have an applause track following that little nugget!
Run, don’t walk.
