Default 964 Cab - Tiptronic to Manual Conversion

I’ve googled and found many threads on the subject for coupes, but none that answer the following question.

So aside from the cost and practicality, is there anything unique to a Cabriolet that would present additional challenges to fitting a 5-speed or 6-speed (from a 993) under one of these? I’m thinking any additional stiffening mechanisms that might be in the way, etc.

No , platform is essentially identical cab has some reinforcements in rocker and inner sill , manual conversion is no different and yes six speed will fit, Bert

I like my tip because I can no longer operate a MT, but I can certainly imagine that a six speed would be excellent.

I did a conversion a couple years ago. The parts list didn't end. The kid on YouTube with minty completely misleads people.

Thanks guys. I ended up buying a manual cab. Probably saved myself tens of thousands of dollars and a massive headache……

Sorry to hijack, had a question about value. Besides the cost of the conversation, if done right with all the correct parts changed (Gauges etc), does converting a Tip to a manual do anything to the resale value down the road. I am not talking a few thousand, will it drop the value by 10s. I have friend with a Tip C2 and I was considering buying and converting, I probably will never sell but I am curious.

I would expect the value to increase with a proper manual conversion. Value would probably land somewhere between a Tip car and a factory manual car.

Default I just did one

I just converted a rare 93 Amethyst. Took a year to sell. One buyer at my price. May be most buyers were dealers. They didn’t want it.
the conversion took endless parts.
All before covid. Today probably $$$
Tip coupe is what $75,000?
manual coupe $88,000?
Tip cab $49,000
manual cab $60,000 if low miles

Manual is worth more. Done properly, I would say the value would go up. Only next to an identical original manual car would you really expect to see a discount - obviously you would choose the original car.. If you're talking about a car with any number of mods, then that originality is out the window anyway.

Subjective, like most things.
