Default Oil Return Line Insulating wrap

Coming down the home stretch on resealing my engine, and as part of that I'm replacing the old oil return line which connects the sump to the oil filter console. The soft section of the original line had a heat/insulating wrap around it, while the same section of the new Cohline replacement has a braided stainless mesh.
Question is whether I should put a new insulating wrap over the Cohline's protective mesh, or is it OK running that hose the way it comes and without an insulating wrap,
I can rationalize both approaches, but clearly only one is correct.
Thanks!

I did same replacing the line with stainless mess hose line with a high pressure inner hose. I covered the hose with a heat shield wrap. My thoughts were the line run near/next to the muffler and exhaust pipes and the shield will help reduce heat transfer

I agree with you about shielding the hose, Gus. What heat shield wrap did you use?
The factory stuff was originally a sheet of fabric/material which was sewn along the edge to form a tube. However, sewing it ahead of installing it would make it tough to install on the hose, but I can't think of a better way to do it.
Did you use a narrow material (like what's often used for header wrapping), and spiral wrap it around the hose? I see the new factory sheath has Velcro to join along the edge to create a tube, but I don't think the plastic Velcro hooks would last very long.

I bought a small roll of silver/reflective racing heat shield tape many years ago and all still together and looking fine.

So, am I correct in assuming that you wrapped the tape as a spiral around the mesh section?
What did you use to tie off the ends of the wrapping: some sort of clamp or wire?

Thank you!

I bought a roll of heat shield silver fabric that had Velcro sewn on each side which allowed you to easily wrap it around the hose and then press together. Think I got it from Summit Racing - comes in various widths and lengths

Same here - been in use for ~12 years, Velcro is as good as new.

My alternative to the velcro shroud/sheath being reflective heat tape spiralled or wrapped along the length of pipe and tied off at the ends using stainless ties -

I think the velcro/split sheath is perfect for protecting high temp cabling or multiple pipe/hose combos
