Question fuel/oil gauge glass

Anyone know where I can find a new glass lens for my fuel/oil gauge? The gauge itself works fine and I would prefer to just replace the glass.

TIA

Open it up and remove the inner plastic piece if that's what's wrong with your gauge. Do a search and you'll see pics from when I did it...

Just go to a glass shop and have them cut a replacement for you. I replaced the plastic lenses with glass. Much nicer.

I believe I saw new glass in the Performance Products catalog, too.

How hard is it to pull the gauges and replace the glass? The glass on mine have a few problems and I'd like to get them all clean and clear. I really wish I could get my hands on a set of factory manuals.

Garrett,

I did use your helpful link, only my outcome wasn't as good (doh!).

Little heavy handed and like a dumb a$$, broke the lens!.

I contacted Palo Alto Speedometer and they sell the glass for the VDO gauge for $25 plus shipping. I'll be calling them tomorrow for a replacement. www.paspeedo.com

RedRS, do a search for Garrett's link. The procedure is not very hard. Just be very careful. My mistake came as I was trying to make the glass sans plastic fit without rattling!

Hey Jeff, glad it kinda worked for you! It did take a little extra pressure on the metal ring to keep it from moving. Gently.... gently...

If you want to comparison shop, North Hollywood would also carry replacement glass. Their web site is www.nhspeedometer.com I used them when I converted by 85 mph speedometer, and was pleased with the service.
