RS America market?

BaT had to pick a lane with their business model, so to speak, and the lane they chose is that of a pure exchange format. They won't involve themselves in any way with the transaction itself, and really, they can't. They'd open themselves up to massive exposure and liability if they tried to police the deal itself.
Their involvement is limited to some degree of monitoring comments, and an attempt to ensure accuracy and honesty in seller representations in material facts / pictures. And even there, it's super limited, because they're only providing the platform.
I agree they could have a policy that backing out of auctions results in a ban, but then they'd have to police that policy and assume the role of fact-finder. So in your situation, it could theoretically have been you who flaked on the sale, but complained it was the buyer, and so on and so forth with a he-said / she-said. Can of worms for BaT to try to enforce, so they do nothing.
Not diminishing how utterly sh*t this situation is; just clarifying BaT really doesn't have the onus to take action.
I'm hoping your buyer sells today and honors his commitment. You could actually sue, as you do have a legally binding contract, but no one would given the costs and hassle.

I think there are a number of bidders on BAT that have no intention of actually purchasing, when you look at their history, a bunch of bids but no wins.

LOL, so true. On that specific auction, user @aweh asked some relevant and irrelevant questions with no intentions of bidding. However, some questions do help the REAL buyers.

I bought the RS America from @bmwtmx...I was the high bid at 150K so it was offered to me first. We spoke on and off for a couple days. One of the best sellers I have ever encountered. I am sure I will have tons of questions.
