Default RS America market?

I've been toying with selling my RSA for a bit but have no idea where the market is. Very few have come up on the usual auction sites and the couple that sold had accidents and higher mileage. Dealers are all asking over $200k for theirs...It's an immaculate '93, all 4 options, black car with suspension/exhaust upgrades but I have all original parts. Has 56k miles. Did I say immaculate? Nearly full service history. Thoughts would be welcome.

BaT has 52 results from 2016-2024 - with plenty of data from 2022- Jan 2024

There's only been 5 stock cars on BaT in the last year (only 1 in 2024) and 2 of the 5 didn't sell so it's not that cut and dry. Also, 2 of the sold cars were in accidents and the only one that did sell which is comparable to mine went for $176k + $5k auction fee. I don't know if that's the market or what without recent data.

I track it pretty closely. I also rely more on Classic.com than just BaT for market info: https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/91...era-rs-america

I think you'd be well positioned near that 175 mark. But that red Mecum car was lower mileage and only 155. I think that's because Mecum wasn't the right venue.

Assuming no paint work I would figure the RSA with 56k miles and all 4 options would be about $150- $165k. If the car had no sunroof and LSD it would probably have more of an appeal and thus result in more $. Immaculate can be subjective. Placing 1st at PCA Parade in Preservation or Preparation and now we would know it is immaculate.

Nothing really to add except to reitterate my opinion that some cars of a specific model are more valuable to certain people when they are very low miles - then some people who don't want to be worried about devaluing a low-mile car might find a lot of value in a car with high miles. Perhaps yours, sitting somewhere in the middle, could have an audience from both demographics? Post some pics! - Nevermind, I forgot this was yours.

Your detailer mentions some panels have been painted - so that doesn't push it in the right direction.

Yes, that's my car so while immaculate is subjective the car is in incredible condition. I could take the risk on BaT but I've got too much going on with my house so that requires work. It's an option but I would love to do a quick sale if possible without the hassle.

That's a good resource (though it is missing some BaT listings - probably an issue with their API).
I agree on the ~$175 mark. I personally wouldn't pay top dollar for a 4-option car (my preference is 220 only). But others won't buy a car without A/C. Good luck with the sale,

Let someone consign it to not deal with the headaches.

I'll look into consigning although I've never had a good experience with that. Thanks for the input. Big decisions to make. Either goes in storage for 8 months or I sell it in the next couple....

I'm pretty snobby about cleanliness and the subjectivity of "immaculate," but yours does present very well in that video.

I agree fewer options is better on an RSA, but what you "lose" in value there, you will make up for on mileage. I paid up for LSD + non-sunroof and Midnight Blue, which was critical for me.

I'd BaT it if you have can handle the week of nonsense, or consign to a high-end seller as suggested. I have someone who could move it for you. PM if you want. Any of the top end dealers (RFM, Merit, Zweck, GrandPrix) would also take it from you but prob not for what you want.

No risk on BaT if you set an appropriate reserve. Even if you don't secure the sale on BaT, make sure you connect offline with your top ~ 5 bidders and you'll likely get what you want.

Hello @Ken D - I did a quick audit of the RS America market and couldn't find any missing data points from BAT. Keep in mind we isolate 964 race cars into their own separate market and we limit what's publicly visible to the last 5 years. In any case, it's not a perfect science so if you see something that is missing, please, PLEASE, hit me up.

I think I'll have to decide bat in April or she stays. I never had a good experience with consigning my cars. At the end of the day it's a need to sell, but to have it in storage for an extended period of time is kind of useless.

Talk to Nathan at CV Luxury cars, he’s clear across the country but he’s reliable and knowledgeable. He’s also extremely well connected and likely already has buyers for your car.
