Default Wiper refills don't fit

Has anyone else had a problem getting driver's side wiper blade refills to fit properly? On mine, the wiper blade tip loses contact with the wind shield (windscreen for our UK friends) when the arm is near the parked position. Passenger's side is fine.

I ordered wiper refills from Performance Products in late 2002. Last night I looked up the refill in the Bosch catalog at Pep Boys, and there is no listing under "911, 89 - 94". All the other refill brands listed the 964, but have the same design - I don't think they will conform to the wind shield curvature.

Is this a dealer-only item, or is there a brand that works? Do the dealers sell a wiper that deals with the windshield curvature? Wiping action is fine except for the left lower corner.

I recently updated my blades AND arms - my old arms had lost their pressure so I bought the updated TWO spring variety from Pelican - I was really very surprised that the difference when in the rain was that great!

I think that is typical. If the blade was shorter, so it would not lose contact with the glass, it would not sweep high enough on the windshield. MG solved that problem by actually having three smaller wiper blades on their MG-B sports car of old.

Same on mine. I replaced the blades a month or so ago with Bosch ones from Halfords (the main rip-off generic car parts dealership in the UK for you strange people across the pond) and the tip doesn't touch the windscreen on the drivers side when at rest.

I know what you mean - it always looks "wrong" to me, but in reality I'm not sure it makes a lot of difference. It doesn't have to move much before it is fully in contact with the screen and you won't be looking out of the bit it doesn't touch (well, not unless you're really short!).

I had the exact same problem on my 911S. Never could get blades that would lay flat at rest. The ones that are on my 964 tho seem to fit pretty good. They came with the car so dont know the brand. Probably have the same problem when I go to fit new in the future unless i can find a brand name on the existing ones. I will check tonight.

Does anyone have the part number for the right/left side two spring version of the wiper arm? Does it take the same blades?

Thanks

Default wiper refills

hello,

1990c2, ordered new blades from (arms) Porsche, not the same as original. 993 part number, sent back. go to audi dealer and you can get refill rubber blades. just insert metal strips on both sides and slide back into arm. trim excess rubber as they come in 20 inch lengths. if you need i can provide p/n's. the original arm appear to be better made than the replacement.

Dutch, funnily enough I found exactly the opposite. My new arms are stronger and made to very high standard.

Cheers,

Springer,

the 964 uses the same wiper blade as the 2.7, 3.0 & 3.2 911s from the '70s & '80s. If the Pep Boys catalog shows a Bosch part for an earlier 911 it should fit.

That said, I'm running Bosch blades and I too have a free blade tip when the arm is parked...

Question REAR Wiper Blade?

WHAT are you guys using to replace the wiper blade on the rear??

I ordered a new unit when I first got the car and couldn't seem to get it to fit...while I forget what the issue was, I haven't addressed replacing it again, since returning the one I ordered.

If anyone has a valid replacement, or maybe I was temporarily mechanically insane - let me know.

I replaced my rear blade twice by simply going to my local Porsche parts department and asking for a replacement. I dont have the part number, sorry.

Same thing on my and i just change the arm and the blade. I order it thru my opc and they install it for me. (they were having 30 percent discount on older model part). It work great as it started to rain a lot in this part of the world.
