Default Spoiler warning light....

So. Handbrake warning light wasn't working. Bulb OK. Switch okay.

A quick look under the dash and I noticed a plug on a silver box under the LHS of the car that was loose. I plugged it in and hey presto the whole dash lit up like a Christmas tree!

I reckon the sneaky git who sold me the car had the spoiler warning light come on and loosened this plug on purpose because I've never seen all these lights before like low fuel, a big "!" at the top of one of the guages and alll manner of other things!

Anyway.

The spolier light stays on all the time now.

The spoiler works perfectly both automatically and manually.....

Any ideas???????

Thanks

Does the spoiler light go out when you drive off?

Just about to say that I should have read Adrians book first!

I didn't know it was supposed to go off above 4mph

I'll let you know after my drive home!

The box you found unplugged sounds like the "central informer". The name makes me think of a sinister cold war figure, but it is what drives most of your warning lamps.

What year is your car? 92 and later have a different set up for the spoiler control.

Anybody have a clue why the spoiler light needs to stay on until you drive off? Judging from the extra electronics needed to make it do that, someone went to a lot of trouble for that feature.

Springer,

Perhaps it is something to do with checking that the speed sensors work properly?

Dear Springer3,
No idea really but this was the time of bells and whistles and maybe somebody thought it was a good visual indication of a viable speed input. If this light functions properly it tells you that the speed input is okay so if your speedo is dead or appears dead you can use this light to see if the speed input is lost or not. That is my use for the light anyway.
Ciao,
Adrian

Whooops!

Yup, once you get moving the light goes out!

And I'm happy because I've got all these new lights to play with!

I especially love the enormous

" ! "

that glares at you when you first twist the key!

Very 90's!

! Indeed !
