Have '91 C2. Just had cam housing resealed. Leaked extensively, since reseal of cam housing, with engine in car, not a drop.

My '90 C2 Cab has no gasket, no leaks (knock on wood) and about 103,000 miles on it.

My '90 C2 has had no engine work (except a camshaft replaced). The engine isn't what you'd call 'dry', but I seldom get any drips on the floor. Just on 90k miles now.

1991 with 57k miles. I had the car resealed when replacing all head stud bolts (one broke after 10 years/32K miles). No changes to the heads and no leaks (only leak that the car currently has is due to the one of the lower valve covers... seems they corrode over time... corrosion on these valve covers look just like the cathodes on the boats when they corrode)

My 90 has a damp engine, i fine layer of the black stuff stops any corrosion.

It dosnt bother me, i like wet stuff.

What is the range of cost (worst to best case) to install a new head gasket and reseal ?

The issue of the non headgasket engines are blown out of proportion. The leaking occurs only when the engine is cold or first started and is a result of the residual oil in the cylinders and the excess fuel to start a cold engine. Once the engine is warm, it isn't going to leak. Further, it is not a compression leak, so performance is not degraded. My Racing 103+mm engine does not run any head gaskets!

'91 C2 with 38K, no gasket and no leaks.
I recall reading that the gasket issue came up due to the wider spacing needed for the bolts when bumping displacement from 3.2 to 3.6 - (Porsche 911 Story by Paul Frere) I hadn't heard that explanation anywhere else. Does that sound right?

Cost? 2 or 3 k!
A lot of labour. And when the motors out theres allways other things that need attention
I wont bother untill it leaves a snail trail (theres a lot of oil in 964).
