Engine and gearbox will be dropped this year.

I am trying to confirm that we can use standard 993 brakes with the BBi. So far BBi is telling me that they have validated only bid reds.... When I asked the same question to Elephant about theirs they say regular 993 brakes should fit. So I am confused

"Upgrading" to big red does not feel that much of an upgrade to me for a street car, just more weight.

Absolutely. I run with standard 993 brakes in both my 993 and 964, and both are equipped with BBI uprights. See my 993 install thread Here.

I completely agree the big reds are just extra weight, especially in a 964.

OK I think you had mentioned this earlier. It would be nice for BBi to know that !

Has anyone used Recaro Sportster CS in a 964 ? I am 6'5". My main concern is to make sure that these seats will not put me in a position that is more forward that the stock seat. Right now with the stock seat I am all the way down and all the way back and this is OK. Ideally if another setup could be much a bit farther back this would be ideal.

Thanks.

Nice scenery and weather to drive the car.
I use to live in Cannes and really enjoy driving the 964 around.
Good luck with the build !
Cheers

Back roads are small here and the 964 is the right size

I am ordering the coil overs now. On the KW web site they mention differences between the before 11/90 and after ? My car is from 8/90 so it means the first one which has a 5/8 weeks build time where the second one is in stock. What are the changes that happened in Nov 1990 ?

The CS Recaro sporters are a better seat for me and I'm 6"4. If bolted directly to the floor (no adapters) they sit about the same or just a hair lower than the stock seats. Headroom is a bit better but no tilt means that the front of the seat does not support the legs at all. The main think for me is that the stock seat headrest shape is right at the top of back and on longer trips the resulting curved posture is bad for my lower back. The Sportsters are relatively flat on the back. I'm making some spacers to add tilt to the front of the seat for more overall support. The seats will hit the inner tunnel and abrade the carpet there. They also can not be angle adjusted without sliding them forward and even then it helps to open the door- so when stop at light etc. That said one in a good position they are very comfortable for me. The compromises are worth it.

I had to space the steering wheel back to get a good driving position for spirited use. I added a short shift kit (sleepers) but still want the shifter further back so I will bend the lever a bit. The 964 is not the easiest fit for taller drivers but with significant tweaking can work.

Looking forward to se how things progress!

Pete

Thanks for the feedback Pete. I am on the fence on seats in general. I may start with the stock seat first.
