I haven't had the pleasure just yet, but I believe it's 8-10 hours of labor and approx $1,500 for parts (that includes a new flywheel). So it's somewhere north of $2K. If your Factory flywheel has been replaced, you may not need a new one. I believe a qualified Porsche specialist can make that determination once he gets a look at it. If you want ultimate peace of mind, replace the whole setup or upgrade your car's performance with a semi-lightweight option from Andial.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can provide additional suggestions.

I asked the same question of my shop today.

About $1k labor. Porche lightwieght kit including flywheel, sport clutch and pressure plate from germany around $1400 and .... my guy fit's an additional weight - I think it's around 6 lbs to the flywheel to avoid the stalling problem. Interesting solution. I had the porsche lightweight in my hands last week - it's incredibly light, too light. The addition of the 6 lbs brings it to the right weight - you won't believe how heavy the dual mass flywheel is!

BTW - my guy is an independant and charges $65 per hour.

Sounds like my guy does the Andail solution - he quoted me $3k out the door. My first went out at 38k miles and I'm now at 66k.

Donut - how many miles have you got on yours?

I have approximately 60K miles on my second flywheel. The original was swapped out at around 30K. The pedal is getting a bit stiff but the pick up feels normal, i.e. no slipping and positive engagement after the pedal is lifted a couple inches.

Mumzer, It depends if you have a C4 or a C2. A c4 is more expensive, because the engine has to be droped. A C2 can be done by removing the gearbox.

With parts and labor I just paid right about $3k for clutch and flywheel for my C4, at 40,000 miles. Turns out the clutch had longer to go but the flywheel was the early type and suffered a massive (and abrupt) failure, basically shearing in half between the two discs.
