Default Removing Centre air vent

How does the centre air vent come out? I am fitting a dashmount mobile phone holder as part of the current upgrades I'm doing to my 964 but am stumped as to how to get this out without breaking it.

I'm tried appying gentle pressure with a screwdriver around the edges but no joy, and cannot see any screws holding it in. I've looked on here and in Adrians book but have not seen it mentioned anywhere.

BTW, if anyone wants info about fitting the Nokia CW-1K bluetooth kit I can provide them. Nice piece of kit and suitable for DIY installation.

Regards,

i.

I've sure I've been told that they are held in by spring loaded tabs - but when I tried I never had any luck getting it out.

One word of warning - I used to have my mobile phone close to that location, and it seemed to upset the heater system - made it do very funny things with the fan and stuff. I moved it and haven't had a problem since. Seems the mobile can upset the heater control if it's too close.

Ian - I have the same Nokia kit, and I agree re installation...

One question though - why are you fitting a phone cradle? I find I don't need one..I put the phone in the drivers door pocket, and I have cut some foam so it sits nicely.

btw, I put my Nokia control button by the headlight switch. Very inconspicuous yet falls easily to hand. Easy to get the wires to as well.

I'm fitting the phone holder as I have a Nokia 6600 which eats batteries when left on bluetooth, so want somewhere to put the phone and plug the charger in. I'm probably going to semi hardwire a battery lead in coming out underneath the holder.

I put the Nokia button to the right of the 4 foglight switches - you can run the cable out above the radio mounting cage to make a neat job.

Talking It's done like this

Iain,

The centre vent has two clips/holes, you need to do this.:- push screwdriver up through the holes each side (a flatty will do)

and pull tab down each side, this releases the crocodile style clip, you can then tip the vent forward and pull out.
