Default Luggage release catch cable (BEWARE)

Hi

Though I would post a message on this for other users, this is a 10 minute peace of mind job you can do.

Look at your release catch and you will see the cable runs into a sleeve, just conect a short piece of cable from the latch and pop the end through one of the holes leading into the wing, the wire will then appear behind your fog light.

Make a loop in this end and leave it there, if you ever have problems you can remove your fog light and give the cable a tug.

I spent 2 hours looking for this on my car, its a 1991 and it did not have one.

I then had to use a whole saw to make a whole large enough to get a tool through and try to prise the latch open from underneath the car. The latch does not move up and down but to the side. This make it very difficult to get leverage to move the catch when the distance is about 2 ft. I the end i made something out of some copper pipe.

Do it now before this happens to you, a piece of bycycle cable will work nicely.

Cheers

My '93 has a secondary wire already, which ends up in the top of the left front wheel well, above the plastic liner.
