K&N or not, read on

I never run a K&N I hate those messy things.
A "paper" filter actually flows better, at least when it is new, and it wont pass dirt like a K&N filter WILL
and over oiling is known to cause sensor and MAF meter problems.
It was the first thing that I did when I got my car was remove the stupid K&N filter, which didn't even fit properly in the airbox (it kept sucking in breaking the seal around the box) and replaced it with a Mahle.

To continue this discussion, why don't we all post what air filter we use and how we use our beloved Porsche:
To start it off:
1. My car has been mostly a track car which sees some street time
2. It started its life with me after the build with the stock airbox with a K&N Filter
Then I put on a K&N cone filter setup
Right now I have a stock air filter in the stock airbox
3. Not sure what I'll go with when I get back on track, but one or the other K&N filters probably...
So, what do you all use?

my problem is I have do not have any experience with the stock airflow meter and airbox. So i'm not sure how/if I can just slap in an old box while still using the MAF setup I currently run. Any thoughts on that matter?

I wish I had read this thread a couple weeks ago. I over oiled my K&N filter and now I have idle issues and a check engine light. Taking the car to the dealership today to get the airflow sensor and idle sensor cleaned.
Has anyone had to replace the airflow sensor because of this? The service manager indicated that could be a possibility.

I've used a K&N filter for 9 years an the PO before that. I've probably lost 100 bhp and I guess my engine will soon blow up due to all the dust and stones that have been sucked into the engine....

I have the K&N panel filter and had those filters in Alfas for many years, but now I really get scared and go for the paper Mahle filter asap !
So much for trusting all those racers that say they use K&N........ :-(
p.s. 964 c2 1989 160k miles. One engine overhaul at 100k
