They are constantly updating the PET. I have access to what dealerships use since my son works for one. The older p/n being superseded usually means they don't plan to offer the old ones anymore.
Is there a part number stamped on either the factory original seal or the 964 seals you purchased in 2015?
Can anyone who has used the 911 part number seal comment on them softening over time, easing the door shut?

The 993 seals are the ribbless version these were first introduced in 1994 on the 1994 MY 964's Both the 964 and 993 seals AFAIK are interchangeable and other than the ribs are no different. I have one of each I can double check but just went through this.
The issue is AFAIK all 993 and 964 seals are NLA and the replacement part is the old 911 door seal. I had purchased some new 964 seals back in 2015 which I have pulled from my track car to use on my C2. I am redoing the entire car because ( well I'm Not sure) but I recently ordered factory 911 seals which are the seals used on the G-body back. No matter what I did the door was tough to close and would require a hard slam to close vs a solid push. After looking at them side by side this is what I found.
The darker seal on the left without the white mold release is the 964 seal the one on the right with the white mold release is the new 911 p/n seal. As you can see the 911 seal is larger by a considerable amount. I have not been able to caliper the opening but it looks like they made changes to the tub with the 964/993 making the channel smaller. This makes it very hard to fit the new (old style 911) seals and have the door close properly. It is possible that over time the seals will flatten out and make a better seal but I had the right seals for this car so I am using them.
What you might consider is checking to see if you have a new or replaced windshield or rear glasses. If that is the case this might be the cause of your wind noise. If not glued in and just placed in this might be where the wind is getting in at those speeds. However do understand that back in the 90's wind noise was common for many sports cars and even today they keep having issues with mirror designs and other issues. I also find that the aero mirrors cause less noise than the flag mirrors.
It has been a while but As I recall they came in a bag with a sticker from Porsche and part number just as the 911 versions came. One I have was folded tapped and had the part number applied to the tape. I will try to take pictures of the 993 seal I have and post later.
I looked back thru receipts and the seals I bought were the 911 part numbers I had no issue’s installing them doors close a bit hard but nothing I can’t live with
I've just received my aftermarket door seals from a German eBay site that I've bought stuff in the past with good results.
in order to install the seals, do you recommend any specific glue or method? First time here with door seals and all the help is much appreciated.
I completely dry fit my door seals. after a day or so I went back with 3M weather strip glue and started at the top back corner with the 90 degree corner and glued about 2 to 3 inches either side of corner. and then just randomly pulled out small sections and added glue to those.
Rus - My C2 coupe had a wind noise in the driver's door. I isolated it to a gap near the mirror. I solved it with a crude addition of some 1/4" foam tape. Its mis-shapen from where I started but it has sealed the gap and solved the wind noise. My point is that if you car has had any accidents, you may be fighting a seal problem where the car door frame is not per spec.

Had mine installed the other day. Dry fit was nos possible for me, the seal in the upper side was falling without glue, so I glued it completely starting from the top back corner.
The noise reduction was significative but not total, but I'm happy for sure with this 85-90% reduction!
