Default Transm. questions, like does my car have LSD?

Dear rennlisters

I have asked about this once before, but didn't really get a clear answer. Now I have looked in Adrians 'Auftragsnummer 964' and it makes me wonder once again.

After all I know, if an lsd is fitted from factory if you can find the number 220 in the options list. Then I read Peter Morgans 'Original 911' and it states that in the 1990 Carrera 2, if one of the digits in the transmission code is the number 1, is fitted with a lsd. Now I read the same thing in Adrians book in 'deciphering transmission codes', page 581.

The code for my transmission is: G5003-1L

G5003 corresponds to RWD manual (not Switzerland).

Then comes the interesting part. Digit number 6. In Adrians book it says if it is a 1 and a 1990 car with G50 or A50 trans, an LSD is installed.

L means L-series, the year 1990.

So what du you guys say? I what way can I actually see on the car if a lsd is fitted?

cheers

Christian

jack it up and turn a rear wheel .
if the other turns the same way , you have lsd .

Normally I would check for the 220 option, but now I have seen two different sources suggesting that 1990 RWD cars could be fitted with lsd, even if option 220 is not listed.

Suggested in Adrians book is that the code G5003-0L would mean no lsd and if there's a '1', it's fitted with lsd. If my memory serves me right Peter Morgans 'Original 911' said that a '1' or a '2' meant with lsd. Don't have that book at hand to confirm. I will try to jack my car up at first convenient moment to check.

Maybe Adrian could give us some pointers here ..?

cheers

Christian
