Default windshield rust prevention

My 964 cab has low miles and was well cared for in the midwest. Now it resides in Florida and spends a lot of time outdoors in the rain. I have noticed if I lift the edge of the windshield trim at any time there is water in there. I want to somehow wick it out and seal it so water will not continue to penetrate and degrade that area. Any advice on how to save this from rusting knowing that keeping it out of the rain 100% is not an option?

This is for the rear window, am I right? I am concerned about the front windshield. Is it the same? This may be a simple question but mine is a cab so I only have the front to worry about.

No sign I have seen yet, only clear water. However I was going to dig deeper by attempting to slide a towel between the seal and body. It's in very good original condition so I want to be careful not to do anything foolish.
