Default 964 evaporator

Hi,

I removed the evaporator from my HVAC suitcase and have to make a decision on replacing OEM vs Kuehl evaporator. The Kuehl unit is almost 3 times more than OEM, but is supposed to make a big improvement.
Please let me know your thoughts or if you have any experience with the Kuehl unit.

Thanks

I installed a Kuehl evaporator in March. I’m in Perth, Western Australia so it was a good time of year to test out its performance. It’s significantly better than the old original unit and is more than adequate to keep the car cool on a 40 degree celsius day. It’s hard to tell if it would be much better than a new OEM unit (comparing it to a 30yr old caked up unit isn’t fair) but my justification for choosing it is 1. that it’s better on spec to OEM, 2. I live in a hot climate, 3. it’s a pain to change so I don’t want to do it again 4. my cars a daily drive and 5. my cars a keeper.

Thanks for your feedback. It is very helpful. The best reason is not wanting to do it again. Lol I plan to get a kuehl unit.

I bought a cheapish aftermarket unit when I did mine. But I have a Targa and more relevantly live in the UK so it's a tad less crucial.

The Kuehl evaporator is NLA
They are re-designing it and it will take a year to get it to the market.

Glad you enjoyed your visit. It’s the most remote capital city in the world so not a lot of people make it to Perth when visiting Australia - but like most places, it has an enthusiastic Porsche community.
