Default 964 Crackles and Pops

Trying to understand the dynamics and which exhausts setups produce the CRACKLE and POPS on engine deceleration AIR COOLED only please (964 993)

Some have achieved (if desirable to them) it by:
- loosening clamps in exhaust joins to cause small leaks
- disabling the off-throttle fuel overrun cutoff in the ECU

what else?
who’s experienced it with what setup or mod?

thanks! for any experiences/insights both technical and empirical
already know all about lack of authenticity or desirability thanks.

Not 100% sure I understand what you're asking for....are you looking for a setup that produces the "crackle and pops"? Meaning you want that sound?

Perhaps this helps:

Crackles and pops are created when an explosion occurs outside the combustion chamber and in the exhaust system.

understand the engineering. Asking if anyone here has achieved it and how on a 964/993 and what setup. Thanks!

I’ve got an FVD cat bypass, cup pipe, and Fister sport secondary and I’ve got all the pops and crackles I think I’d ever want.

Interesting. For comparison, I have a Steve Wong chip along with a Fabspeed cat bypass, Cup pipe, and OEM secondary, and while I think it sounds great I have no pops or crackles (not that I particularly want them).

I too have the SW chip. The fabspeed cat bypass has a resonator, whereas the FVD bypass is a straight pipe.

Mine is not over the top, but every once in a while it makes you smile.

I’ve been experimenting with exhaust set ups because I have most of the available options and have been playing around with different set ups. The most pops (on hard acceleration up shifts, down shifts and that pop and burble as your driving slow in second gear..) was most noticeable with a cat bypass, cup pipe and g pipe. That set up was crazy loud so I put the cat back on. It has reduced the frequency of the sounds mentioned above. Still there occasionally but nearly as frequent and not as loud.
