Engine mounts Installed, WEVO semi solid, 91 Coupe
I just swapped the original stock engine mounts for the WEVO product. I installed Stomski Racing brand mounts on my 1980 Weissach, but due to less working space and the heavier 964 engine, decided to pay Southpointe Porsche in Durham, NC an hour labor to install. If you pay a shop or dealer, strongly suggest you negotiate the hour labor only, charge, since it does not take any longer especially buy a certified Porsche tech of any pro tech do complete the work.
The young master tech also recently swapped a Sharkwerks center delete x pipe on my 997.2, so I trusted him with my 964.
WEVO semi solid mounts will make a difference in chassis stiffness, and some slightly additional cabin noise and will tighten up the stock shifting a bit unless you've already swapped to the RS type shire products.
WEVO mounts are extremely light weight, and weigh just a few pounds for both vs. the stock Porsche mounts which weigh at least 10 or more lbs in total.
If you are still running the stock mounts, Id highly recommend the WEVO product-Stomski also makes a very good and beautiful loolingbillet product but is higher price point. The WEVO product is black and very non descriptive which is the look and performance I wanted for my 964.
I’m also running the Wevo with black pillows and I agree it really helped to settle the rear and stabilize the car during transitions. I noticed that the pillows seem to get softer after the initial installation and I can feel less vibration and noise in the cabin but also feel a touch more movement in back.
X3 on the Wevo- only dissatisfying point is the corrosion of the bolts found after removing them only 1/2 a year later. Not sure if it’s electrolysis or cheap plating or a combo of both but a shattering of anti seize or similar may be a good idea.
Make sure to follow their instructions, particularly the revised torque figure on the through bolt. If you torque to stock spec, you'll crush the pillow bushings and need to replace them.
True- and the lock washer location Location is critical for this reason.
