Default Running a G64 without the PDAS

Hi All. I am putting 964 running gear into a 1966 split screen camper (996 rear sub frame and a 993 vario 3.6 engine).

Progress so far if interested - https://www.ssvc.org.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=86279

My question is - can i run the gearbox without the diff lock actuators?

My understanding is it will run the system as a 31/69 split which i am ok with.

I read somewhere that track day boys swap the actuators for a nut and bolt set up and lock the diffs in different settings for differing tracks but now can't find the link.

any help much appreciated.

Check out Giac's youtube channel "Number27" as he turned a C4 into a C2 but kept the M64 gearbox.

Yes.

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...rnation-2.html

Did a C2 conversion over the winter and started with the ABS conversion (rewired the C4 to a C2 ABS) and drove the car in the spec, where i had the (dead) PDAS still in the car and drove the car with the C2 ABS.... Then, the AWD was still passive in action with the fixed split 31/69 front/rear, bu no actions at the diff-locks... No problems and quite nice ride... I should have done this before the mechanical C2 conversion. This cures the understeer issue of C4 cars at narrow racetracks with tight corners...

Yes you can.

Mechanically this should be as simple as:

-Leave bellows inside transmission in place. These provide the transmission fluid seal.

-Make a simple alum blank plate to retain bellows in lieu of the two (extremely pricey) slave cylinders.

Hydraulically I don't exactly know what if anything needs to be done besides capping the connection from the bomb accumulator to the presumably deleted solenoid. I frankly don't know if this would create any problematic flow or over-pressure conditions but my instinct is it would be okay. But don't build on my instinct

Thinking this through a bit further maybe you don't have any hydraulic problems if you plan to use non 964C4 brakes, or 964C2 brakes which would certainly be preferable. The pump and accumulator seem robust enough but I certainly wouldn't go adding them to a project car since there are vastly simpler non electronic solutions to obtaining excellent braking and clutch actuation when PDAS is out of the equation.

Default god bless the Rennlist

Hi Team

Thank you for the super helpful replies. I will push on with blanking off the slave units and let you know how it goes.

Agree. Ditching the 964 pump and accumulator for a remote after market one. Keeping the 964 brakes up front as i have transplanted the whole front sub frame apart from the shox which needed to be modified to get under the bus. The back set up is full 996 so again will run off the aftermarket accumulator. The motor is 993 3.6 non vario. its a homage project to porsche 911's through the years
