how many guys with stock cranks in their 964 are running clewetts serpentine belt setup? and how long have you run this setup? I already read about the down side.
this what I wanted to find out If any one using it broke the crank. Richard sells an lot of them so people are doing it. I see 964.4l has one from ATI super damper from Jeff at Rothsport but he has a gt3 crank. I asked Jeff but he don't make one, I emailed ATI and they never made one for the 964. be nice to have a serpentine belt setup. I know Foxman just did it but not to much time on his.
I was thinking about asking that. I think it would be easy for them to make one that could bolt to the crank adapter. I was thinking about buying the adapter and sending it to them to look at. also If you look at our stock pulley you can see the rubber is only under the ac pulley. that's almost not like a true harmonic balancer.
just sent them an email with the picture of the hub and said If I could get 10 people to buy them would they make them. It almost looks like one they make for GM could bolt to our hub. If you don't ask you'll never know.
The contacted Clewett about this several weeks ago and at that time I think he was not aware of the potential sales to be had. 2 issues I see with the project are A. you have to have a good condition balancer to start with (Mine is showing its age a bit) and 2 you should balance the assembly before installation. So not exactly plug and play but not impossible either.
Personally I am looking to have someone produce an ATI unit for the 964 crank. I will post more info if the project goes forward.
Yes- they rejournaled and balanced and blueprinted the 964 crank on the Alabama car- so Peter figured they would be ok without the harmonic balancer since the car won't be a track car and won't see sustained high rpm driving.
OK here is the deal they are willing to make them for us but with every thing going on they are backed up with work. They will make 10 of them but they will only deal with me. that means I buy all 10. price is 750.00 to 800.00 each. WHAT do you guys think? If I did this I would have to be paid up front. I did not ask about the ac pulley but I think they all should be made with it. Their is your answer.
