Default AC Bolt Adjustment

Discovered this bolt today. It was loose enough for me to tighten with my fingers and the nut was loose. I believe it's the AC compressor plate tensioner bolt. Do I simply tighten up? Is the nut necessary? Why use such a long bolt?

I believe this is the bolt that will set the belt tension on the A/C pulley. You adjust with the bolt and lock it in place with the nut. Then you secure the A/C compressor in place.

Thanks. Sounds like I can just bolt it up to where the compressor is currently situated and lock it in with the nut.

This bolt does not serve a purpose as long as the 4 bolts that hold the compressor down are tightened.

So yeah, just tighten it and you should be good. You can set the belt tension with the krikit tool of you want to measure it. It is made by Gates. Search this forum for more details of you need it.
