Thanks but unfortunately not
Those are the small version used on the engine shroud I believe, ask me how I know
I think the 8x1 reference relates to 8mm hole x 1mm panel thickness, so the correct ones should be a 12mm hole x 2mm thickness, roughly...

If you check your velvet strips and find they are split, then they need replacing as there is a good chance they'll let water past.

Everything has been dry on the interior for sometime and I was going to put things back together and noticed moisture on the insulation under the passenger rear seat itself. I have come to learn that this style of insulation is the worlds best trap of moisture so I am not positive whether this is new or old water but I cannot see any situation in which water from the foot well migrates up the kick panel to the seat itself. Whereas its quite easy to see how it moves down. Does anybody have ideas as to where water on the rear seat maybe coming from?

I pulled the insulation off the seating surface and wow I am surprised there are not tadpoles living in there it’s hard to photograph but there is a decent amount of water

Water here is usually from the sunroof drain hose becoming detached at the bottom of the rear screen corners.

When I pour water to the rear of the sunroof I see a quick and steady flow out of the drain holes that run down by the engine compartment. I suppose this does not definitively say that the drain hose is 100% connected abd sound. Can anyone think of another test that is not destructive to the headliner?

maybe one of those flexible boroscopes?

Can you catch the water that comes out of the drain hole with a piece of tubing? You could measure volume in and out to check for any loss.

I can do a real long stress test of those drains to see
I just realised the pic in this thread of the lower drains is not your car. Have you physically sighted yours? You don’t need to remove the headliner as such, just unhook the end. You just remove the rear shelf to see then. They are tucked away in the far corners but are viewable.

These pics are from my thread.

John I have a healthy fear of the headliner but do want to sight mine. I had the rear shelf off, just reinstalled it but can pull it again. Can you describe the "unhook" and then "rehook" operations that worked for you ?

To recap - this drain connection was in fact your main culprit?

Does anyone have a photo of the assembly sans headliner? My understanding was that the surgical hose discharges at the rubber grommet and that there is no metal tubing on the low end. Is that right? I'm trying to understand what comes undone from what.

Borrowed this pic from Foxman's thread, you can make out the drain tube hiding in the corner.
If it's leaking, I would assume the sound deadening on the parcel shelf would also be wet?
Check for splits as well as it being disconnected.

Appreciate that - I will have a closer look at the area. If I'm looking at that pic correctly a leak may drain in the the gap between the fender and rear tub, not necessarily the rear shelf itself?

This is what I found on mine. The hose coming down had completely disconnected in mine. Yours may be slightly disconnected or maybe it was leaking and someone fixed it but not the water damage. The headliner end fits over a flexible piece of thin metal. It’s easy to undo and redo.

Wow. Did you get that pic without removing the headliner ?
