Run a 235/275 on 18". Currently have NT01. Love them. But, they are now dated 2015 and well, car isn't seeing too much track time just a lot of canyon time.

They are amazing dry, and even when not at track temps. BUT, they are sketchy AF in the wet.

Leaning to RE71R. Need to confirm sizing... compared to NT01, the fitment is TIGHT! :-)

R888R is basically the same as a nitto. The RE71r is a good option, though it will not be leaps and bounds better in the wet. I don't have any experience with cup 2s, but the tread is probably the most suitable for rain as compared to the other tires you mentioned.

Not on a 964, but experience with Cup2 in the wet is also very very iffy imo.

yeah, if you look at the RE71R, they have a lot more grooving in the tread blocks for water, the Cup2 are pretty shallow, almost like a NT01...

I think I am leaning to them, but I also remember they are really chunky, I may have to do a -1 size on them - 225/265...

the mounted specs never seem to tell the full story, gotta try them

RE71R’s are very good in the rain, and have better grip than just about any 200 rates tire out there. I run 225/265 front/rear on my 964 with RH wheels just below RS ride height with no fitment issues, they’re great on both the street and the track. Negatives: The 200 rating is BS, and the tires typically last just one season or two. They’re also notoriously loud, particularly after a few heat cycles. And after twenty heat cycles the tires are dead and won’t grip anymore, regardless of how much tread is left. I often go through two sets a season, but it’s worth it.

R888R is a very loud tire. For a street car, that can be quite annoying. I have them on my 930, and can hear myself going down the road like I've got lugged mud tires. Even more pronounced if I put the clutch in and coast at speed. But I like how sticky they are for canyon carving.

What are you going to use them for? As mentioned, RE71R have the best grip, but are loud, especially as they wear. And run a bit “stiff” if I remember right. As in stiff sidewalls so harder bumps.

I run RE71R on track, but switch to Michelin PS 4S on the street. Grip is good enough for fun weekend drives, quieter, more compliant, and lighter I think.

I run the 71R in 235/265 and have run 235/275, but I think my offsets are less aggressive than yours. 8”/50 and 10”/45.

I second this! It isn't Cup2 grip in the dry, but its better in the wet than the Michelins.
The Re71R is a very good dry tire with prodigious grip and very good wet grip. I used to use this as a rain tire during cayman racing.
Cup2 is remarkable in the dry and decent in the wet, except for standing water.
They are all way better than the Nittos in the rain.

Keep in mind i live in Los Angeles so rain use isn’t my priority but i nearly **** myself driving to the track when it started to rain and sleet at the grapevine. Lol

loud Tires don’t bother me. Can’t hear over exhaust anyway.

use is aggressive canyon driving. Occasional track use.

i talked to a few buddies who said the re71r is as fast S the nt01 on track and better when damp out. All said cup 2 blows heat cycles out fast.

im going to try it.

question is 235/275 or 225/265. The nitro 235/275 fits its very tight. Can get an occasional front rub.

i want to keep the ratio same as car balance is insane good.

Then Re71r. Went from Nitto to this for 3 years. No issues

I run Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. Feel good, plenty of grip. I’m in UK, so rain and cold are a concern and so far the tyres have performed great.

I’d only go Cups if used on track, and I do on my other GT3s. But then again I don’t know how fast you guys drive in the canyons!

I have to agree for a street tire the MPS4s's are an amazing tire all around. IMO a step above the Conti ExtremeConatact sport. Have better wet and dry grip and very quiet. They also look good. Although not as good as the RE71R's but will get better life out of the 4S's if that matters. There are several versions of the Cup 2's which are evolving all the time. Which Cup 2's are you considering.
