Do those fit a 964? Looks to be earlier cars from the description.

I don't know about the complete unit, however I rebuilt my headlights using Marelli reflectors and lenses.
There was just a small tab that had to be broken off the reflectors to adapt them to the 964 units.

The parts were top quality and I have no complaints.

I was using this thread as my guide it specifically notes that the part will often be shown not to fit but does in fact fit.

can you elaborate what you mean by using the reflectors but not housing? There are many routes to the H4 upgrade and I am confused by this. Are you saying you cannibalized a full h4 assy to retrofit an H5? I have not heard of this route

My lights were already H4, I restored them since the reflectors were tarnished.
You don't have to buy a complete unit you can purchase the reflectors, lens, seals and housing all separately :

If you want to convert H5 to H4 then I would imagine you just need the reflector :

If you buy a complete assembly then older 911 units will fit the 964. You just need to adapt the harness and blank off the vacuum line for the leveling device (if you have that option fitted).

I did not think the lenses and reflectors of the H5 unit were removable. Can these be dismantled and converted?

They can be dismantled if you have enough patience. Helps if they are pre-heated in an oven. I heard the H5 bulbs run colder than H4's. The H5 buckets/reflectors are made of very brittle plastic, compared to metal reflectors of the H4s. I would be worried about melting the H5 plastic reflector with H4 bulb.

Thanks!

I believe I will press with the H4 assemblies. If anyone has comment on the Marelli units I linked to, do chime in. If not, i'll go for it and report back!

It also seems that H5's sell for a decent price, so if I'm happy with the H4s I'll likely tidy up the H5s and put them up for sale to recoup costs.

Will also be adding relays for sure.

I have the MM's but they have a different part number, they are pretty much the same as the Bosch units. I have Bosch lenses in mine and no complaints but then again, I don't drive my car at night much, lol.

The Marelli units from FCP fit. They are cobranded Carello, made in Czech Rep, have space for city lights.

I actually think I might leave the chrome rings for a bit...
