hehehehe (just don't tell your wife I encouraged you!)
Evan,

If anything happens the blame will be all yours.

Thumbs up 0-60 times

I cleaned the car up and went for a little test run yesterday.

I tried playing with the Gtech device. The unit I have is older and will only do 0-60, 1/4 mile and 60-0 times for acceleration.

I used a stretch of road by me that is never policed because of arguments over whos responsibility it is to cover this stretch of always empty road. I usually get the car up to about 140 without worries.

Well needless to say I started off with simple 0-60 times to get the feel of how the device works. Ouch first two runs were 4.99 and 4.96. I could feel I was not getting the car to launch properly.

I decided I needed to increase the revs on the launch to see what would happen. First run came in at 4.57 second at 4.33 and I feel I can improve upon those numbers.

OK now I was ready to try the 1/4 mile and then the HP settings. I got a great launch this time was coming up over 80mph and accelerating hard when the V1 starts making all sorts of noise. I braked down hard to 45 mph and noticed the County Sheriff sitting in the trees. Well needless to say he pulled me over.

Boy was I lucky. He did not get me on radar. Although he knew I was up to no good. He pulled me over with the excuse of me not having a front license plate on the car. He checked out my papers and after about 20 min came back and started asking me what i was doing. Apparently he heard me a couple of times doing my 0-60 launches. Lighting up both rear tires.

I was totally honest with him Told him I was attempting to get 0-60 numbers to see how fast the car was. After he informed me that the speed limit was 55 he changed his tune, he was totally interetsted in the numbers. We both relaxed a little and talked about the car. He started bitching about his crappy cruiser and how is he supposed to catch a car like mine with it.

He let me go with just a warning and told me he better not catch me trying any 1/4 mile times and "Oh yes" next time he sees me I better have a front plate.

Well needless to say it will be a couple of weeks before I try that again. I'll keep you posted.

Wow,

That V1 saved your ***. Glad no ticket.....

I have a detector, but it is a bel or something and they are illegal in VA. Sounds like I need to do a stealth V1 installation.

I hope you find a new copless road!

I guess they've decided who is responsible for that stretch of road...

Forklift - If you go with the V1, make sure you keep the Bel (or similar) detector in your car. In the chance you get pulled over in VA and the officer asks for your radar detector, hide the V1 and hand over the Bel.
