Front Vent Grille
I recently ordered a replacement of this part as my existing grille is brittle and faded. When the grille arrived it looked very different and is in fact a 993 part number: 993-559-411-00. My question is: does the original part sub to this (it looks like it may fit) or do I simply have the wrong one?
This is the one that goes in front of the windscreen above the top of the hood.
Thanks,

Well, it appears I have answered my own question: There is a frame as well as a grille - I thought they were one in the same...and it appears that the 993 part number is correct! Sorry to trouble the board!

Mine was also a bit faded, as if the previous owner had not been very careful and at some point it had received a bit of wax that wasn't removed quickly.
I simply took the part off cleaned it thouroughly and resprayed it with automotive trim black. It now looks as nice as the rest of the car. Total cost under $4.00.

I've done the same on both of my 911s, just remove the 3-4 screws that holds the frame in, the frame and screen mesh are separate.
I took my pieces to a local starter/alternator rebuilding facility so they could bead (not sand) blast the items and a fresh coat of Wurth Satin Black (or similar) does the job well.
...get new screws too!

My frame actually cleaned up nice (looked like it was way past rejuvenating before I started!) so I just replaced the screen ($20) - the old one was literally disintegrating once I removed it. I now need new screws as the old are disgusting and stand out a mile!
JB - I'll snap a pic later today after I pick up some screws (if I can match them locally)

JB - 'fraid I didnt get any of the dissasembled grille as it had already conformed to the shape of the frame and I didnt want to move it, so I just swapped one screw at a time rather then remove the entire thing. I took pictures of the new grille in place (with cleaned up frame) and the tatty old grille literally falling to pieces in my hand:
And the new one:
and then as I had the camera in hand:
This weekend she was really spoilt:
New brake pads
New brake sensors
New front grille and screws
New horn
Clay bar treatment (after 2 washes and a chamois....with a new leather I might add)
Wax
Vinyl/rubber treatment
wheels polished
tires laquered
Sills removed and cleaned
New weatherstripping on sills and sharkfins (and all new hooks, grommets etc.)
