Factory Strut Brace
Can someone with a FACTORY camber strut brace please post a picture of the mounting plates? Does it look like the FVD bars or the AJUSA bars? Thanks!

Hello,
They should still be availible from Porsche for less than $300 if I remember right. The pn# 964 343 042 00 Heigo was the outside contractor that made them for Porsche for the RSR and Carrera Cup cars and to be sold as a dealer accessory. Good luck.
Best,
Don

Crescent City Porsche used to run ads in Excellence magazine for the factory brace for $275.
It looks same in their ad picture as the part number 964.343.529.70 piece used in the Carrera Cup cars as pictured below.
It looks somewhat like the FVD and may be made by same manufacturer, but the FVD has holes in bracket and I think it also is taller to clear the 92 liter gas tank if required.

Anyone interested in a new AJusa strut bar. I installed it in my car and have driven the car 50 miles with it.
It is in excellent condition. I am replacing it because this model requires slight modification of the carpet and I prefer to keep the car as stock looking as possible. the factory unit hides under the carpet but is double the price.
PM me if you are interested.

Cupcar,
That is not like the Carrera Cup strut braces, it is significantly smaller. Having gone through this recently the price of the factory original is outrageous, around $700.00 per quote from Cresent and Denver dealer from parts guys I know. I had to get one and at that time, it needed to shipped from Germany as the states were all out of them. If you DO NOT need the factory one the 275.00 deal from Cresent is good.

The bar Bob/Cupcar has shown IS the Factory bar used in the Cup Cars. I have seen alot of them, It is the one Andial sells as the Porsche original as well. There was also another version, same bar with cast ends that was used for a short time and is no longer availible. There was another bar completely different used in the 993 GT-2 made by Matter. Not sure though that any of them were $700.

Don,
You are right as usual. I have done alot of research on these strut braces ... I have that same one on my Carrera Cup USA, after researching the correct bar. That factory number matches the ones the factory put on these cars. The FVD bar is not the same. That is not to say that is not good ... but it is not the same one the factory put on the Carrera Cups.

As Rennman pointed out, the bar I pictured is the early 964 Carrera Cup part which I got directly from Porsche Motorsport. I bought it 11 years ago and they were not a dealer item at the time as I recall.
Also, as Rennman points out, there was a version that was made with cast ends that said "Porsche" in the casting, this unit was taller to clear the 92 liter gas tank, more along the FVD's height.
The later strut brace used on the 993 series is what I think you are referring to. It is a large diameter aluminum tube bent at around 45 degrees at each end and flattened with holes drilled to fit on the strut mounting bolts. Why this simpler bar would cost $700 is beyond me, but hey that's Porsche for you!!!
The blue nuts pictured are modified H&R monoball mounts.
