The aftermarket item I bought had the logo already engraved. Its made by EuroCupGT and I got mine from Porscheshop.co.uk. They appear to have gone up in price since I got mine a few years ago. Its advertised as having "PETROLEUM" inscription but comes with the PORSCHE logo....shhhh!

You realize that's the price for the alloy cap.....not the engraving. The genuine Porsche cap is made of plastic and almost $180.

Yup!
I had gammy parts sent in lieu of real ones, and their reply was simply, 'If you don't like it, you can order from Porsche direct'.
Or, words to that effect.

A friend though purchased a 964 rear reflector, used my discount code, and it was legit, packed well, and shipped fast.
So, you take your chances...

That Dansk cap is about $100, the listing our friends from Japan posted was up to $200, thats $100 difference, the difference being 7 engraved letters!

Porsche Techquipment one is about $150

You can buy then direct from EuroCup GT for around £65 with the logo. I have heard and read the bad reports about Porscheparts but I can only go off my own positive online purchase experiences with them. them.

It says that these EuroCup GT caps are suitable for all models 1997 onwards. Would their construction not cause a vacuum in the tank causing it to collapse? Is it not that pressure is regulated through the cap (original)?

The tank is vented via the PCV system, not the gas cap. You should be good to go.
