Default Driver's Seat Disassembly Question

Hey everybody, I have a question. I am recovering seats in a 1991 964 C2 and have hit a snag. the Pass seat came apart beautifully, but the D-side has a pin thru the hinge into the seat. I cant figure out how to remove the pins to separate the backrest from the cushion. any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

hhmmm ..your pin seem to be twisted ... she should be straight
I think you'll have to cut it with a hacksaw or use some brute force

I wondered if that was the case. I have been making my living at custom interior work for over a decade now and I couldn't see any alternative. Just to verify, as this is a customers vehicle, have you taken these apart before? ... or maybe have pics of the pins in their proper state?

Next question, where might one find new pins?

Thanks!

It looks like it might be [square rod] #928-521-717-02. Take a look in the seats PET, 806-60.

So are you saying that taking out the two bolts doesn't release the back seat? I just unbolted the two bolts on both sides and unhooked the cable for the release. The hinge mechanism stays attached to the bottom part of the seat.

Has anyone rebuilt the lower squab foam on their seats and can share pics?

We've just finished ours lot of pics on the instagram of the car (christine964targa) @miahmiwen .

We had a manual backrest and an electric standard seat. So if you have specific question we can probably help a bit

To give some life to your cushions the steam cleaner directly on the foam is impressively effective.

I've just finished a set of those there is a chamfered m screw in the pin and it should be square and straight those have definitively seen some huge torque i can't understand how it can go so wrong as this is driven by a single motor.

You'll find the parts you need in the E_STZ_KATALOG.pdf

Ps: the pin just slide i'm not sur what's the goal of the screw exactly

Thanks, I checked it out. Is the steaming effective long term?

Long term i'm not sure we've got around 2 month and 2kkm yet, it can't really hurt and give back a lot of bounce.

Covid 19 project. Refurb the squab. I’ve hit a snag. My seat backs are powered and I can’t work out how to release the back from the base. The only thing apparently holding it on is a shaft on each side. How do these shafts release?

Isn't that an E ring on the shaft?

It is. When removed, the shaft can be pushed in. I thought this might be the way the shaft disengages from the hinge allowing the two parts to seperate.
