My budget is not close to yours. I'm on a retired mans salary with a son in College LOL You can't beat Motec but for my needs and budget I went with the Haltech Elite 2500. It does all I need with adequate resolution and I went drive by wire. Not a bad package for the price and I don't need to add on like Motec does.

I am sure it does the job perfectly. Yeah, my budget is starting to hurt. This is a passion project for me, so trying not to think about it too much.

Remind me the key specs of your car? Is there a thread on your build? Cheers buddy 👍

M84 the Porsche tuners choice, tried and tested I'm surprised you didn't go with something with knock control on such a big budget engine build. Is it getting mapped on Neil's engine dyno ?

Yep, going on Neil's dyno. Hopefully soon. But I have had a set back - the carbon fiber engine shroud I bought doesn't fit Seems to have shrunk during the curing process. So now have to wait for a replacement.

I thought about knock control. The key issue (as I am told anyway) is to successfully tune motec knock control, you actually need to make the engine knock in the tuning process.....which I clearly don't want to do. And its pretty hard to get right. So just making sure I use the right fuel and don't go too aggressive on the ignition timing. I would be interested if anyone else has tuned in knock control into their motec?

Yup, I was told the same i.e. difficult and time consuming process. Be interesting to see what figures you make on the dyno, as my figures have been questioned

Unfortunately it is more about the body than the engine. I chronicled most of the work I did myself. https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...ad-long-7.html

I am working on the engine now and hopefully will post some more info regarding the build soon. One reason I liked the Haltech was knock control. I will also be monitoring turbine speeds to see if there is any engine imbalance and a number of other options.

Luckily I have access to a mustang dyno which is nice I can spend all the time I need tuning when we get to that phase.

Good to get some consistent advice 👍

what power figures did you get? And what are the specs of your motor?

Awesome. Will take a look through the thread. Really keen to see how your engine build progresses

I understand AEM is a good option considering VE tuning, per cyl knock control and available wideband for open/closed loop operation. I have some time but I'm leaning that way just a little.

Motec is the gold standard. AEM makes decent stuff but it's nowhere near the same level as motec.

Nor the price and Motec is al a carte. Great stuff on a different level, If you have the ability to program motec are racing professionally or have an endless budget, Motec all the way. Innovate and AEM make some decent products. I am using AEM's boost controller, wideband AFR gages, flex fuel sensor and ignition coils and they work perfectly for my needs and don't break the bank.

I am moving at a snails pace but need to get it done, otherwise it will be next season before I know it. LOL. Once I get the intake made I will start a thread. I have all the parts I just need to find the time.
