I swapped in a cheap Sony that I had laying around when I brought the car home. It looks wildly out of place but it has bluetooth where the aftermarket Blaupunkt that came with the car didn't. Been looking for a better option since. I've seen the Clarion before and I really like the look of it but I can't get past the light color. This is the first I've seen of the Continental radios and they look the part better than anything else I've seen, so I ordered one last night.

Oh, and I absolutely love this description for my search:

A seamless interface between the car’s ISO harness to the radio’s DIN connectors. Also keeps the stock amp as well. The connectors on the harness may have changed around 1992 or 1993.
Looks like this and the Conti head unit are all I need for a '90 C4?

Shoot Tore at Bergville (link above) an email and give him the factory oem audio setup/wiring info and he will give you the correct adapter for the conti.

I was also considering the Continental radio since it's classic looking and all I really need/want is a simple interface & basic controls but w/ bluetooth and USB capability. I think it looks great.

And then I stumbled on this Blaupunkt Toronto unit online and even bought a spare as well. I'm happy with it especially since it was on sale literally <$20 each... lol.

Simple, spartan, doesn't look overly digitally complicated nor too tacky like the newer single-din Pioneers, Alpines, etc.... plus it's close enough to period-correct looking for my taste. It has a USB port in the front and a dedicated one in the back of the unit also... you can see my lightning cable under the dash in the pic. It was an easy DIY install.

Has anyone here used the LOC harness from BergvilleFX on the Continental stereo to use with an aftermarket amplifier? I am wondering if the "UNIVERSAL ISO LOC HARNESS" creates a true line audio output for the amplifier, or does it simply add RCA connectors to the internally amplified audio signal? If that is what it does, would this not overload the aftermarket amplifier input? There is no indication that any of the pinouts on the TR7412UB-OR are line level outputs.

I used the Kenwood M1824BT amp. It fits in the stock amp slot perfectly. I will write a guide on how to do it. It's not difficult at all once figuring out the wiring and build a DIN connector(3 dollars part). No cutting in stock wiring at all.

I had been planning to do a stereo delete, plus a hidden bluetooth amp. However, after removing my stereo I find that I don't miss it at all. So it's sayonara stereo and speakers.

Out vile weight!

That's what im going to do next. move the switches to the rennline stereo delete plate. find a way to make center console delete to look better. I will probably keep the bluetooth amp. it's nice to have music for longer drive.

The blaupunct toronto is $12.43 on amazon. Keep in mind blaupunct is now owned by some Chinese company so not the same quality as before, but it is $12.43 so ....

In my opinion there are three options.

1. Continental.

2. Porsche classic

3. Radio/amp delete.

I went with number three for the time being and use my iPhone to Stream to a ultimate ears mega boom. The UE unit fits perfectly in the passenger door card, has Bluetooth and sounds great, connects every time I step in to the car, and wireless calls are perfect.

I will eventually go with option one when I have the time to actually focus on it and option two was never really an option because it’s a quarter the price on a top end rebuild LOL and while it may look great it’s functionality is junk.
