Decent Looking Stereo Option for Older Porsches
If anyone is looking for a radio that doesn't look like a spaceship crashed into their dash, check out the Clarion M508. Looks decent IMHO, is a"boat radio" and has a nice white LCD screen that you can actually see in the sunlight, which was the main reason I got it. Hooked up SiriusXM to it and away we go! Also has a mic you can buy for your hands free phone, Pandora, BT, and other features. Media player only, no CDs. Retails for under $200.

Installed same about 18 months ago and I’m very happy with it. It connects to my phone faster than any of our modern cars and works flawlessly. I’m still hoping Clarion will release one with amber/yellow lighting so it matches better at night.

Are Continental stereos not compatible with 964s? They are popular in 993s. My only issue is that their USB connection will not charge a phone/ipod as the power output is too low.

Continental is also compatible and a great option. I personally preferred the Clarion layout and look.

Good source here for the Conti head units and they also sell all the adapters you need for plug/play with factory wiring.

A seamless interface between the car’s ISO harness to the radio’s DIN connectors. Also keeps the stock amp as well. The connectors on the harness may have changed around 1992 or 1993.

I bypassed the factory amp and used the internal amp. Clarion gave the headunit decent power and the SQ is surprisingly good.

I use a Pioneer MVH AV290BT. It does not have a CD player, so it's really shallow to install. You can change the lights on it to match your dash. Has hands free calling and streams you music / maps vocals from your phone. It's not very flashy. Has worked flawlessly since I got it.
