Default C4 FDM Short shift kit?

Hey all-
Just looking around this morning and see that FD motorsports is out with a short shift kit for 964 C4s. I've read in the past that there was little room for improvement with the C4- but I'd really like a more precise feel (and hopefully a shorter throw as well)

Has anyone done this upgrade? I really wish I could get the Rothsport shifter (love the look) but that's not happening for the C4 anytime soon!

https://fdmotorsports.net/shop?olsPa...hort-shift-kit

Thanks all

I have it and installed it myself. It works great.

Pretty easy project. I would replace all your bushings while you're at it.

The kit makes a noticeable difference between the stock configuration.

This is something I definitely want to do shortly. Did you get the Golden Rod? <edit> Never mind, I guess that's for the C2's only.

DobermanDad, any chance you have a list of the bushings to replace?

I have a FD motorsports short shifter in my 95’ 993 c2 with goldenrod. Works great! The throws a little bit shorter but not much.

I also have a short shifter in my 89’ 964 c4 made my Sleepers Speed Shop. The product was just released last friday. I’ve been testing the product for about 5-6 months now. The shifts are noticeably shorter by 30 percent or more. And getting into gear has zero slop. Also this shifter needs no modifications or dimpling to the tunnel.

I'd have to look. I feel like I added some custom shift rod bushing too and the boot. It's been a long time since I did this.

You have to dimple the cover too. It's not hard. Two boards and a ball peen hammer will do the trick. Just a small dimple to give the new shifter some clearance. I painted the cover while I was at it too. I can't help myself haha!

Thanks guys. I have an email in with Sleepers Speed Shop. Nice to see some C4 love by the aftermarket. Jared, anymore pictures of the setup? Mostly the rubber boot as it looks great.

I dont have any detailed pics since Super Street magazine was there to do a write up of the short shifter. Im told it will be printed in 7 weeks.
here are some pics during set up. My apologies that they are not detailed.

Guys, thanks for the replies.
Really great to see some C4 love in the aftermarket- looking forward to seeing this when it comes out.
I love how low the stock shifter is, but the lenght of throws is something I'd like to change as well as improving shifter feel!

Just keep in mind that if you dimple the tunnel cover to make clearance- you hit the bottom of the car on a speed bump and you do a lot of damage to the shifter...so be careful not to bottom out!

I just got an email back form Len Higa. They claim that no dimpling or modification is needed, even for 1990 C2.

Definitely an awesome feature of the SSK from sleepers.

Do you mind sharing the price?
How about a possible Group buy?
