Removing side rocker
I'm going to tackle my faulty oil thermostat this weekend, but I can't figure out how to remove the side rocker from the plastic tabs. I've removed the screws & nuts, and the only thing holding the rocker on are the plastic tabs. I tried yanking one off but it broke the tab in two. I think there are a total of 6 tabs.
Can anyone help out? I'm stuck until I can get this $#@ rocker removed.

The tabs are two part units and you just have to pull the rocker of. Sometimes one of the parts will stay in the body fitting but you usually can carefully remove it and snap it back into the rocker. The guys at the body shop usually pull the rockers off and replace the damaged ones and reuse the others. I was able to remove mine without breaking any. Goodluck Harpreet

I got most of mine off without breakage when I did the AC removal. Most not all. I will have the body shop fix them when I have them paint my rear spoiler in the near future. Right now it's all held together with racer's tape. (ok on a track car, but not what you want for a street car!)
Thanks guys! It must have been bad luck that the tab broke on the first one I pulled b/c the rest of them came off without breaking. I removed the snap ring on the thermostat, pried a little on the cover, and it popped right off! I've heard of the covers becoming stuck and unremovable, but mine came out without any problems. I replaced the thermostat element and I'm getting oil flow to the front oil cooler again. My mechanic quoted me $1000 to replace the entire thermostat housing. I was able to replace just the internals for $135. Needless to say I'm pretty happy.

Glad to hear of the good news. It is always a satisfying experience to work on our cars while saving a heck of a lot of money in the process... instant gratification!!
