^ You are doing better than I am. My 3TT sprung a power steering leak from clamping 20+ year old hose when doing the clutch job. No 911 toys until this C4 is in my hands later this week.

Meanwhile an under 700 mile 993TT was dragged to the shop to get it running. 2 of the injectors not functioning properly. Got one of the injectors to work. Not a fan of those front half car bras..

The last 3TT I saw with this low miles was Seinfeld's Riviera or was it Mexico blue one and that was over 10 years ago. The car will need some money dumped into it but a true unicorn to the right collector.

I am replacing all the rubber bits on my cars if it needs it or not. Just aging out by now and while i'm in there might as well do it.

New ground strap that will be longer lasting made by the shop and much cheaper than stock.
Progress delayed a few more days due to a suspect return fuel line to fuel tank accessible only with motor out or dropping it significantly. That is installed now.

The two oil hoses exposed in rear passenger wheel well are also getting replaced with new clamps.

Motor should fire up tomorrow and AC system next.

Current R12 AC held vacuum but need to run it with dye already in to see what happens with valves open. Hopefully, it is a quick o ring seals and schradar valve change converting to R134. Fingers crossed to no evap rusting out and leaking in the suitcase.

Oil hoses rehab expanding including the line going from tank to filter housing. Total pain. Motor can now start. Ride height adjustment and corner balancing next.

So problems on the stretch. Rebuilt distributor was missing the retaining clip and shorting when turning over fried ignitors. Found this instead..

Crank position sensor broke apart..

After losing a few days to above.. car runs fine and then put the muffler back after sorting oil lines. Hear scraping noise.. Fan shroud is out of round. More grinding and repaint..

You may want check the through holes for the fan housing. I have seen these elongate slightly allowing the alternator to be out of alignment.

See pics below

^. Thanks! What was your fix or replacement? If fix: tap and sleeve? They are not cheap nowadays.

I've seen cases where overtightening the strap can cause the fan shroud to become oval. The torque is something pretty low. maybe give that a look.

good luck.

I wanted to put a sleeve in but the isn't much material and I thought it would just crack. I ended up biting the bullet and bought a new one, only after I wasted a brand new fan blade. Spun freely at first, low tension and the strap but eventually the alternator migrated slightly and trashed the fan.

I like your idea of tapping a sleeve in...worth a try

Got the car back. Not finished and need to go back. Meanwhile, took a drive and visited family. Did a bit of modding.

Added front strut bar and drives fairly neutral with C2 rear sways. Did not push extremely hard but fine with it so far.

Picked up a Wings gas pedal for $110 or so few weeks back. Like it a lot.

New front speakers. Still have to do rears.

Did the spoiler mod and wanted to install keyless entry. Bergvill's website is still down. Anyone have a copy of T-Lock install instructions handy?

Got a spare key for the 64 which I will use as the main key going forward.

Been using this locksmith since 2003 who inherited the business from his uncle and was active in the vintage car circle. This blank was on his shelf for decades. Paid very little for it and happy as pig in smelly mud..

Finished with rear speaker replacement. The speaker grill cover is a larger than replacement speaker below and will not clip on. Used Elmer's school glue to adhere it to the rear shelf so it remains accessible. Sprayed electric contact cleaner into the volume **** unit to get rid of static when adjusting volume.

Have radio to listen to now. Never intended to win awards with this replacement. Functions just fine.

You can remove the plastic frames from the JBL Speakers and order some 944 frames that the speakers will drop into. The 944 frames mate up with your existing grilles. Check my Targa thread, I did the same last year.
