Default Going with Lenz System

Talked with shop today. The Lenz system will aparently resolve my drop offs in upper rev range, but will not make me lose any torque. I am just going with the 310 hp version and from what I understand, the 310 hp version is what you get when added to a stock motor. According to shop, I should expect more than 310 hp because the Lenz system is basically set-up to optimize what I already have.

Can anyone think of any downsides? I guess we are ordering tomorrow and hopefully will have it on next week. The 310 hp kit does not require a motor drop. I will post obviously post results and try and take pictures of the installation process.

From what I've read 310 hp is when the system is fine-tuned on a dyno, otherwise on a stock motor it will be 290-300 something like that.

The base maps are tuned for stock engine whereas you've good tons of tweaks done so it's better to contact lenz. Otherwise dyno tune it to maximise the mod.

What mods do you have again? If you still have factory primary muffler, that may be the restriction at high revs as it is quite restrictive

I think I was the one talking about having to have a Lambda to fine tune the system. We will install it here, dyno it and send off at some point in time after system installed.

Cat-bypass, GHL primary and no secondary.

Doug, I'm very glad you're going ahead with this as I'm very interested in how it goes, and in how it comes out. Do you mind telling us about the costs as you go? And be sure to keep us up to date. Thankx, J

Joe:

Right now I klnow it will be about $ 5,000 which I believe includes installation. I will give my camera to my shop and see if they are willing to photogrpah it. Cool thing is, I can plug into a laptop and get all reading and have data analyzed by Lenz for adjustments and I can make adjustments via lap top and etc. when it going. Kind of like Fast and Furious.

Doug,
The price includes the replacement throttle body and venturi tube? Any idea how they intend to attach the stock air box to the venturi tube? It seems to me that they will need to cut a larger round hole in the box which is currently small and rectangular in shape and same size as the Air meter flap.

Also since you have a cat bypass, does that mean they have base maps for cars without cats? I'm asking cos my 89 version is catless

Not sure about installation yet, but I don know that the throttle body and venturi tube are part of the $ 5k package. That is how the system monitors air flow and my MAF will be coming off I guess. Apparently it does not matter what is already done to my engine. They will be tuning to the current mods. It is kind of like having your chip custom done on a dyno, but they the stand alone system give you a lot more tuning points and flexibility. They will just take what I have now and make it run perfect misture timing or whatever at every stroke so I will be in effect maximizing output at every RPM with what I currently have. Pretty cool, huh. I cannot wait and I will be able to plug a lap top in and find out exactly how everything is running at all times. They can then analyze data and I can reprogram from lap top apparently if I want to change something or advance/retard something.
