Saga continues. Put the ABS Pump that Invasion fixed for the third time in the car and the motor smoked. My guess is the pressure switch is bad (Invasions said was tested good - have my doubts), and motor ran too long.
I got a replacement ABS Pump from Steve and will put in on Monday. The plan is to eventually send the Invasion rebuilt pump to Canada for rebuild and have it available or sell it to someone who really needs it.
I would go after Invasion for the repair cost, but doubt if I could collect and life is short.
Invasion Auto Parts in North Hollywood - a word about them. I cannot recommend them, and it may be a moot issue. Sam the crusty old owner is getting old, and the building run down and is for lease. The place is a filthy mess and there are parts (pumps, turbos, etc) to be repaired everywhere on the floor of the front office. They took me out back for the test and it was huge with work benches and stored parts all over the place, but very few people working. My guess is they are not long for this world
PLEASE DON'T recommend or use Invasion Auto Parts in North Hollywood. Read their reviews on YELP, I wish I had.
I WANT MY CAR BACK ON THE ROAD!

Sorry to hear Joe. Thanks for keeping others from the same mistake. I know I would have if my pump had been fried instead of the pressure switch.

My electric brake booster went out.

Not willing to accept the ridiculous price for an electric brake booster for my 1991 C2 Turbo.

I decided to research this subject.
I also want to dilute the tedium on the forums lately …. paint correction , oil threads , ceramic polish , octane booster ..

so I found new replacement electric motors with a new shaft seal , Yes brand new for 220 $ .

pump with bad motor next to new pump

new old side by side

re-use flat seal , can't find the correct EPDM one

new shaft seal

assembled

install and test with this. Factory manual says pump switches on @ 140 bar and switches off @ 180 bar

I have the pump installed and building 180 bar before switching off.

SUCCESS !

No leaks , Very quiet compared to the original pump.

I did step on some gotchas, I will update soon.

The new pump turns in the opposite direction. The hydrolic pump only works in one direction.

I reversed power and return to gain the right direction.

The pump is a bear prime, I used a combo of motive brake bleeder and a vacuum brake bleeder to
pull fluid through.

Thanks for updating Black_Hat.

At least this gives us options when disaster strikes on these very expensive, but simple parts.

Black Hat, you said you ran into some gotchas, can you elaborate?

My pump is weeping and I'll be undertaking a repair in the somewhat near future and would really like your feedback/expertise.
Also, I'm right in Houston, maybe next time I'm out at COTA we can put together an air cooled hang-out or something.

See Post #24 !

I've been driving with the nice weather and......zero issues.

I re-used the one flat "O" ring seal. The electric motor comes with the other shaft seal installed.

I checked the data sheets and if you need to replace the flat "O" ring seal it must be EPDM to stand up to the brake fluid.

This is an easy re-build or motor swap.

Having same issue so resurrecting an old thread as these things are coming up for people and information is useful.

Do you happen to have a part number by chance? Just want to make sure what I find is the correct part

For those of use who are DIY'ers....Could you elaborate on how you did this please? Thanks!
